Writing as passive income? Passive income is a form of ongoing income that once setup, requires little to no further input from the recipient. When thinking of passive income I once mainly thought of rental properties and savings bonds. But then I was introduced to ways of trading a little bit of time to create a steady form of passive income instead of money.
Step 1
Keep writing passive. While this may seem simple, keeping the income passive when not investing money can be difficult if you do not set you mind to it. Because all to quickly the passive income can return to active income.
Step 2
Find good writing topics without adding lots of research time. Remember the key to passive income when writing is trading a little time to write for ongoing income. You want to avoid topics that require a lot of research that you would not normally do. Find something that you would do even if you did not get paid for it, to write about. Or you may choose to write about something from your work you do as active income and turn it into passive. For example: My previous work experience includes being a job coach, employment evaluator, and a grant writer. I write mainly about things that I have done and learned in my previous work.
Step 3
Keep your goals realistic. Lofty goals can either keep your keys on the keyboard to write or they can lower motivation when goals are not reached. Writing is not a get quick rich scheme, nor is it something that you can do without research.
Step 4
Keep your work simple and to the point. Do not write one article to explain everything about one topic. Choose a very small topic within a topic and write about it. Then go on. This will keep you time more flexible. You will not have to worry about remembering where you are at on a subject. If you are writing a collection of work, this will keep you from having to spend a lot of time at once.
Step 5
Decide on a method and platform to write online to earn passive income writing. Yes that's right, I recommend you choose a topic before you choose a method of writing online. There are several types of writing that can be done to create passive income, but each has its positive and negative characteristics. You will want to find a form of writing that has the most benefits for the topics you like to write about.
